Who we are
CompareElectricity.ie is an independent electricity and gas comparison tool for Irish households. We are not affiliated with any energy supplier. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
What we collect
Usage data you enter: When you use our comparison tool, you enter your electricity usage (kWh) and select a tariff type. This data is processed entirely in your browser or on our server to calculate costs. We do not store your individual usage queries in a way that identifies you.
Aggregated usage statistics: We collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (average kWh entered, tariff type popularity) to improve the site. These statistics cannot identify any individual user.
Server logs: Like all web servers, ours record basic access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps). These logs are used for security monitoring and debugging, and are not shared with third parties.
What we do not collect
We do not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email, or address to use this site.
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics). We do not run ads.
We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties.
Cookies
This site uses only essential cookies required for the site to function (e.g. admin session cookies if you are a site administrator). We do not use any advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies. No cookie consent banner is needed because we do not use non-essential cookies.
Google Search Console
We use Google Search Console to monitor how the site appears in Google search results. This service provides us with aggregated search performance data (queries, clicks, impressions). Google Search Console does not place cookies on your device or track individual users on our site.
Third-party services
Hosting: This site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes server requests and may collect basic infrastructure data (IP addresses, request metadata) as part of its hosting service. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Fonts: We load fonts from Google Fonts. Google may collect basic request data when fonts are loaded. See Google Fonts' privacy FAQ.
Your rights under GDPR
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal data and do not maintain user accounts, there is typically no personal data to retrieve.
